Agreement Between Sanima Hydro and Dhaulagiri Kalika Hydro Ltd

Sanima Hydro and Engineering (P.) Ltd signed a contract agreement with Dhaulagiri Kalika Hydro Ltd. for Consulting Services for Due Diligence Study of Darbang Myagdi Hydroelectric Project (25 MW) on 15^th August, 2021. The project is located in Myagdi district, Gandaki Province of Nepal. It has been planned as a run-of-river (RoR) type scheme with an installed capacity of 25 MW, design discharge at Q₄₀ 31.40 m³/sec, and gross head of 100.60m.

Construction of the Darbang-Myagdikhola Hydropower Begins

Construction of the Darbang-Myagdikhola Hydropower Project has started in Malika rural municipality. The Dhaulagiri Kalika Hydro Limited has started construction of the 25 MW capacity project with investment from non-resident Nepalis.

Binod Kunwar, Vhairman of Hydro Limited, also the former president of the NRN Association of South Korea, said that the project being constructed with the investment of NRNs in Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, UK, USA and other countries, and the industrialists and locals.

The project’s foundation stone was laid two years ago, but the floods of 2020 and the second wave of corona also affected the project’s construction work. Project Engineer Prakash Shahi shared that the access road has been constructed, land, office and camp management have been completed and construction of the tunnel has been started. Electricity will be generated by pouring water into the powerhouse to be constructed in Balaute.

Under the leadership of Sanima Bank, Prabhu, Kumari, Century, Muktinath, Obha Development and Mahalakshmi Development Bank have also agreed to invest Rs. 3.5 billion in the project. The project is estimated to cost a total of Rs. 5.15 billion. The target is to start power generation within the next three years.
